Henry Ford started Ford Motors in 1903. Since joining the organization, Ford Motors has grown to become one of the major players in the automotive industry. Over the past 100 years, Ford has successfully pushed the limits of automotive technology and introduced cars that have earned the loyalty of millions of consumers.

FUN FACT !! The first Ford sold was to Dr. Pfennig in 1903, for a total of $ 850. The “Model A” had a 2-cylinder engine and could reach a top speed of 30 mph.

The popularity factor is not new to Ford. In fact, in 1903, the first Model T was introduced which gained immense popularity. The demand was so high that the company had to innovate with its mass production methods. In 1911, Ford crossed the oceans and established a branch in Manchester, England. To meet growing demand and the need for rapid production, Ford Motors changed history in the automotive industry by introducing the first mobile assembly line at the Highland Park Assembly Plant in 1913. The first assembly line has 140 assemblers who worked along the standing line to assemble the parts. In the 1920s, the company had more than 20 overseas assembly plants around the world and was the largest automobile producer in the United States.

In 2008, when the big three automakers – Ford, General Motors and Chrysler were facing major financial problems, the US government had to bail them out by providing financial assistance through the TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program). Ford was the only organization that could survive the difficult time and did not file for bankruptcy. Since then, the company has been steadily advancing and leaving its mark on the industry.

Since the turn of the decade, Ford has been investing in making fuel-efficient models. It has been successful in making cars that are both high performance and environmentally friendly. Today, Ford is among the top sellers of hybrid and electronic cars in America.

Starting in 2018, Ford has announced that it will phase out its passenger cars and focus on creating electric cars, hybrids, trucks, and SUVs. It is also working to bring advanced technology to make consumers’ driving experience comfortable and luxurious. Ford will bring back the popular Ranger and Bronco starting in 2019, along with a diesel version of the F-150 pickup.

FUN FACT! The only car owned by Jim Morrison, the legendary singer of Doors, was a Shelby GT 500.
