3 Boxer Dog Training Tips

It is important to start training your little boxer as soon as possible. Your little bundle of love doesn’t know what’s right and what’s wrong, so you’ll have to teach him. Boxer puppies are very cute and energetic and they love to run around and have a lot of fun with the family. These big dogs have always been my favorites and I adore every one I have. They can be a handful at times, but the benefits are well worth it when you see your boxer pup obeying your every command.

Now, let’s talk about the 5 Boxer Dog Training Tips Every Owner Should Know When Training Their Boxers.

Tip #1: breaking and entering – I keep saying it over and over again because of the great importance of housebreaking your boxer puppy the first day you get him! Don’t delay because it becomes a bad habit that becomes difficult to break. The trick to housebreaking your puppy is to find him urinating or defecating inside the house. Give him a firm “No” as a sign of disapproval. Dogs sense human emotions and can easily detect when we are unhappy and disapproving. When you take your pup outside and he finishes the job, then give your thumbs up and provide praise and treats. Over time, your pup will learn that outside toileting is an approval and reward, while pooping inside the house is a problem.

Tip #2: Bite and Chew – This becomes a problem since they are little puppies. Boxer dogs love to chew and bite and won’t stop unless you show clear disapproval. Every time you play with your puppy and he bites and chews your hands, gently close his mouth and say a loud, firm “No, Brownie.” Use the word “No” only when you disapprove of something so they soon associate the word with disapproval and quickly learn not to do anything you don’t like.

Tip #3: Exercise every day – This one is a no-brainer. Give your boxer plenty of exercise every day to make sure he burns off all that excess energy. Otherwise, your pup will end up running circles all over your house and biting/jumping on everything that moves (and doesn’t). This is also very important for health issues and creating a routine for your pup.

You cannot go wrong training your boxer when you are using only the best boxer training methods.
