Arabic Mehndi Designs for Weddings

Mehndi or Henna is used for weddings and traditional functions in Southeast Asia such as temporary Henna tattoos and patterns. Henna tattoos are much smaller tattoo designs such as a heart or bird on the arm or shoulders, but traditional Arabic mehndi designs are often adopted by women at weddings and traditional holidays such as Eids. Arabic mehndi designs are quite unique and can be distinguished by their intricate designs.

In South East Asia there is a separate wedding function called mehndi where there are dances, songs and the bride is imprinted with mehndi designs. Traditionally, a bride has henna designs on her hands, arms, and feet. The purpose of these designs is to make the bride look pretty. There are countless types of designs, from fully heavy ones to forearm designs to minimal and low-patterned designs.

The great thing about the design is that you can make it look good in any way, from loops and swirls to flower patterns and even simple line designs. Sometimes people start from the little finger and work their way up to the forearm, leaving the rest of the fingers blank. Some brides prefer small and simple designs on the feet, while others prefer heavy ankle-length designs. It’s about what the bride wants and how creative the artist can be. In addition to the bride, close friends and family members also design their hands with henna, although they are usually not as heavy as the bride’s design.

Mehndi designs are also used by little girls at Eids, Diwalis and other traditional functions. Weddings are usually seen with little girls and all women wanting to have their hands decorated with different designs on their hands and arms. There are also many catalogs available with the most popular Arabic mehndi designs such as floral and small designs that people can copy if they wish.

The art of mehndi design is something that anyone can master with a little practice and can create new designs according to their taste. The great thing about henna designs is that anything will eventually look good if the designs complement each other, for example floral designs would go well with vine-like designs while some people prefer random patterns. Arabian designs typically end in a tapering pattern along the forearm. So no matter the occasion, mehndi designs can be easily used to add beauty to young women.
