Five Steps to Successful LSAT Prep Courses
The best law schools in the country are admitting students based on several considerations. GPA, LSAT score, personal statement and quality of recommendation. I’m sure one can handle most of the law school application requirements except how to review for the LSAT exam. Therefore, I thought I’d write a comprehensive LSAT prep guide as I believe in the virtue of prep and LSAT prep courses can prepare an aspiring law student to excel on the exam.
Rule of thumb: If you have the resources to pay for a prep test class, go for it by all means. It will be a competitive advantage over other applicants. In a capsule, one must not only excel in one aspect, but offer the best in all.
The 1S t Step: Find a reputable test prep course.
There are hundreds of institutions offering LSAT preparation courses. Some are legitimate, while others are scams. So the question is: how do you find the legitimate course that will guarantee your success? The answer is simple: research. Read what people think about the course. Find reviews and ratings online, check references online, ask past students, and look up their instructors’ credentials.
The 2North Dakota step: Find a flexible and convenient class.
The class must be flexible and convenient to fit your lifestyle. As much as possible, your schedule should coincide with yours and not the other way around. Test prep classes are available that take place in a traditional classroom, online, or in a peer tutoring format. So choose which one would work best for you.
The 3rd step: Know the proof.
As in military combat, war planners must know the terrain they are about to encounter, which is why this principle applies to the LSAT exam. One must know what he will be tested under. LSAT will test one’s logical reasoning. There will be an analytical reasoning section, a reading comprehension test, a writing section, and an experimental section without scoring. It is not a test of knowledge on certain topics, but a test of critical thinking and reasoning.
The 4th step: do a pretest.
This will serve as a reference on where you need more work. This will also serve as the basis for comparison for subsequent practice tests. It will help you assess whether the program is effective in increasing your score.
The 5th step: Use all available resources.
Wait for classes. If you are absent, ask for a make-up session. Do additional homework and participate in the discussion. Find as many practice exercises that you can work on. LSAT prep courses can only give you as much as they can, one must do their part to strengthen their test taking skills.
