Marital Separation – Do You Need One?

Did you know that a marital separation can actually save a marriage? Did you know that many couples break up to let things settle down because of a big argument that they can’t seem to resolve while living together? Just because you split up doesn’t necessarily mean the marriage is over.

You see, if you create distance and separate from each other, you can think more clearly. If the person is there and you are angry with them, then it can make things worse. That is why a marital separation may actually be just what you need.

Of course, not everyone will want to try this method, but for some couples it can save their marriage. After all, marriage is supposed to last forever, so you may need to resort to drastic measures. And if you’ve tried everything else, what can hurt?

Also, if you both agree not to date anyone else and work exclusively on the marriage, then it might be worth a try. If they can’t coexist without fighting, arguing, and feeling miserable, then something has to be done.

You might even consider it a “wake-up call” tactic. You may surprise your spouse by realizing that he is serious. As a result, they can come to their senses and work on the marriage, whereas before they were unresponsive.

During the separation of the marriage, you must agree to receive couples counseling with both partners with an open mind and willing to change. This is the time to work on both personal and relationship issues.

It’s also a good idea to give yourself space and not be on the phone every day trying to persuade the other to talk about issues, this can create pressure.

Believe it or not, a marital separation could be just what you need, so if your spouse is gone and you feel like it’s the end of the world, it’s not. This may turn out to be the very thing that saves your marriage.

Don’t panic, stay calm and keep trying to figure it out.
