The HTC HD Mini packs a range of features into a compact phone

The HTC HD Mini was announced in February 2010 and is scheduled to launch in April 2010. The phone offers many of the same specifications found in the rest of HTC’s impressive HD range.

The phone measures 103x57x11.7 mm and weighs 110 grams. Its small size and light weight make it comfortable to hold and use. The 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen is capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors at 320×480 pixels, ensuring bright and vibrant display of on-screen images. A built-in accelerometer rotates the on-screen image according to the phone’s orientation, so it can be viewed in both landscape and portrait formats.

Users receive alerts for incoming calls and messages via vibration and ringing, with the option to use MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones. A useful speakerphone system is installed, allowing hands-free communication. A 3.5mm audio jack supports hands-free kits and headphones for listening to music.

The internal memory of the HTC HD Mini is 384 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. However, a microSD slot allows for a memory card of up to 16GB to be installed, allowing plenty of storage for media files and other data.

To stay connected on the move, class 10 versions of GPRS and EDGE are used. When 3G coverage is available, HSDPA is available at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA at up to 2 Mbps. If there is a wireless Internet router in the same location as the phone, the Wi-Fi connection can be used for a even faster internet connection. Bluetooth v2.1 provides a means to share content directly with other compatible phones in the same vicinity. GPS with A-GPS support is installed so that various applications can operate based on the location of the phone.

The HD Mini is equipped with a built-in 5MP digital camera, operating at 2592×1944 pixels. This comes with autofocus so quality photos can be taken with minimal effort. It also has the ability to record video as an alternative to taking still images.

A versatile media player that supports a variety of music and video file formats. These can be easily transferred to and from a computer using the micro USB (v2.0) port. Additional entertainment features include stereo FM radio and a variety of pre-installed games. Social network users will appreciate the dedicated apps that offer direct access to websites like Facebook and Twitter.

The HTC HD Mini offers a comprehensive package of features that is sure to appeal to a variety of users, especially given its compact size. As expected of any HTC unit, a combination of quality software and hardware makes for an impressive phone.
