What is a hemorrhoid cushion and do they really work for hemorrhoid relief?

When you have hemorrhoids that swell and cause all kinds of pain, one of the most troublesome issues you have to deal with during the day is sitting down, especially for extended periods of time. One can temporarily find a comfortable position, but the pain or the thought of bleeding can make one quite uncomfortable.

A hemorrhoid cushion can help relieve pressure from hemorrhoids while sitting. This doughnut-shaped device sits on top of a chair where the hemorrhoids won’t have to contact the surface of the chair, providing some comfort and protection during a difficult time when the hemorrhoid is elevated.

What types of hemorrhoid cushions are there?

The two most common types of cushions are foam and inflatable. They both perform the same function but are just different materials.

The inflatable cushion has the advantage that one can sneak into the office with it and not have to attract attention as if carrying a foam cushion. Although some inflatable models may squeak or make noise during the day. One can help with this problem by putting it inside a pillowcase.

A foam cushion is the preferred type of hemorrhoid cushion as it is slightly firmer. If any air escapes from the inflatable model, one could accidentally sit on a painful hemorrhoid. You do want to make sure the foam is really firm though rather than the egg carton variety that can easily be crushed almost rendering them useless.

A hemorrhoid cushion can certainly help, but attacking the root cause of the hemorrhoid problem may prevent them from coming back in the future.
