F-Zero Z for Wii: real, rumor, or fake?

F-Zero is one of Nintendo’s most popular racing titles. It has earned its name on almost every console with millions of titles sold for almost all of its major console games. F-Zero is a futuristic racing series in which more than 30 racers will be selected in a 30-man race. Racing can reach speeds of around 2000 miles per hour and tracks and racers are often deadly. The most recent F-Zero title is F-Zero GX, a popular racing title for the Nintendo Gamecube.

Recently, there has been a big buzz about the arrival of F-Zero for Nintendo Wii, the newest game console for Nintendo. This rumored game was given the title F-Zero Z. This news was first reported by the German game site Planet Nintendo. It was spread widely on the web and few have been able to tell if the rumor is true or if it is one of those urban myths that gamers love to spread.

I have done extensive research on the subject through many sources and wanted to find out for myself if this rumor is true or not. By most accounts I’ve read, the F-Zero Z buzz is a great urban myth. It was considered a late April Fools joke, but it evidently went too far. Although the rumor has been debunked, it is not unlikely that the game will appear on the Nintendo Wii at some point. Although perhaps not under the title F-Zero Z, surely Nintendo will revitalize the series and give it the good touch of Wii.
